“AMP Up Your Social Media” joins the FIR Podcast Network

The FIR Podcast Network is pleased to announce the addition of a podcast on social media marketing that will begin in late January 2014. Presenter Glenn Gaudet explains…

Marketing meetingWhat is the role of social media in marketing? How do companies take advantage of this fast growing medium? What strategies do leading practitioners use to get results? What do industry insiders see coming up on the radar? How do companies engage stakeholders to be part of their social media marketing efforts?

I’m Glenn Gaudet. I am the president and founder of GaggleAMP. I have been engaged in and driving enterprise marketing efforts for over 20 years. I also wrote the book, Connection, Community & Conversation: Making Social Media Work for Business. I’ve held positions from product marketing manager to CMO to strategy consultant. This has given me the experience to go deep with social media professionals and ask the questions that marketers want answered.

AMP Up Your Social Media was launched in October of 2013 as a weekly podcast. I am thrilled to be able to now bring the show to the FIR Podcast Network. Since 2005, FIR has been the gold standard for bringing relevant and timely industry knowledge to the professionals in PR and marketing roles. Adding a show dedicated to social media marketing to the line up is a powerful complement.

As a long time fan of FIR, I am honored to be part of the mix. With the FIR Podcast Network as our distribution hub, AMP Up Your Social Media will continue to drive the thought leadership discussions around corporate social media use as part of the marketing mix.

If you have ideas for the show, guest submissions or feedback, I encourage you to reach out to me. My Twitter handle is @glenng. You will find AMP Up Your Social Media on the FIR website later this month.

Please join me in exploring existing and new ways to leverage social media marketing.

Linked Conversations #6 - 1/13/14: A conversation with Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen

FIR Presents LinkedConversations with Chuck HesterWelcome to the latest episode of LinkedConversations with Chuck Hester.

This is a very special episode devoted exclusively to my interview with Phil Collen, lead guitarist for Def Leppard. This is not your typical episode, and there will be no LinkedIn tips or news. Tune in next week for that information!

I had the chance to talk to Phil for more than 45 minutes about his career with Def Leppard, his other band Manraze, and his new blues duet, Delta Deep. It is, in my opinion an amazing interview that gives insight into being a rock star, how social media has changed record promotion and what happens when a man follows his passion and does what he truly loves.

Def Leppard lead guitarist Phil CollenSome background: Phil joined Def Leppard in 1982 during the Pyromania album recording sessions playing guitar solos on the hits ‘Photograph’, ‘Foolin’’, and ‘Rock Of Ages’ among others. With the release of Hysteria Def Leppard had their best selling album to date releasing seven singles from the album including the smash hits ‘Pour Some Sugar On Me’ and ‘Love Bites’.  Visit Def Leppard’s Facebook page.

Phil’s alternative band, Manraze, is a collaboration between Phil, bassist Simon Laffy formerly of the late 70’s band Girl and legendary Sex Pistols’ drummer Paul Cook. More information on Manraze is on the band’s Facebook page.

Phil’s latest project is Delta Blue, a powerhouse extreme blues duet/team consisting of Phil and an amazing vocalist, Debbi Blackwell-Cook.
Delta Deep can be reached on its Facebook page.

Phil Collen is a practicing vegan, has been a vegetarian for 31 years, and alcohol-free for 26 years busting the myth of the classic ‘rockstar’ stereotype wide open.

Enjoy this insider look at rock star Phil Collen, this week on LinkedConversations!

So thanks for listening and if you like what you hear, spread the word!

TV@Work #3 - 01/13/14 - A Killer App

In this episode I talk with Erik Cullins of ProofHQ about his company’s killer application for proofing video and the revolution that’s going on in today’s workplace.

TV@WorkWelcome to episode #3 of TV@Work. If you like the show, please share it with your friends by sending them to this link to the show blog.

This edition features an interview with Erik Cullins, Director of Customer Success at ProofHQ. Anyone who works in corporate communications experiences the nightmare of trying to get meaningful feedback from internal stakeholders on written information that has to get out to employees or other audiences. It can be even more irksome and daunting to manage reviews and approvals for video content. I started using ProofHQ a couple of years ago when I took on a demanding project that involved producing one internal video per week, and it pretty much saved my skin.

ProofHQ is something that anyone who produces video in the workplace should know about, but my conversation with Erik goes beyond that, touching on how technology is changing the way we work, and what might be in store for the future.

Next up – in Episode 4 I talk with enterprise video pioneer Paolo Tosolini about the power of digital media, who generously shares what he’s learned about how to implement video in the workplace.

How do you like the show?

I’d love to hear your feedback. Ask me a question, let me know who you’d like me to interview, suggest topics for future shows. Share your comments through the usual FIR comment channels (further down in this post), or drop me a line at ron@ronshewchuk.com.

Until next time…..keep rolling!

Introducing “FIR On Technology With Dan York”

The FIR Podcast Network is pleased to announce a new podcast on technology that will begin on December 31, 2013. Presenter Dan York explains…

    Future tech

How can communicators best use new tools such as, say, Google+ Hangouts On Air to tell their stories in new ways or to reach new audiences? Are there tips and tricks they should be aware of? What is new in the latest release of WordPress? Why should someone in PR and marketing care about something like IPv6 or HTML5?

I’m Dan York and since 2005 I’ve been providing weekly reports into the For Immediate Release podcast where I’ve looked at questions such as these - what are the changes we are seeing in technology and why should communicators care about these changes.

Now, with the launch of the FIR Podcast Network I’ll be diving into more detail in "FIR On Technology With Dan York". Rather than just a 5-minute report, these periodic podcasts will take 15, 20, 30, 40 minutes or however long it takes to cover the subject.

Since the mid-1980s I’ve been working with online technologies - always with one foot deep in the technology and one foot deep in explaining the technology and using the technology for PR / marketing of various organizations. Today I work for a global non-profit where my task is to help persuade, inform and educate people about how new technologies can make the Internet work better, faster and be more secure.

In FIR On Technology episodes I’ll be bringing you the benefit of the view into both of those worlds - how the technology works and how you can use it - and I’ll be interviewing people who are leaders in their fields. I have no agenda - I’m just here to educate and to learn along the way and share my experiences.

If you have ideas for topics you’d like to hear me cover, I’d love to hear from you. Either leave a message in the FIR Podcast Community on Google+ or contact me directly at DanYork@forimmediaterelease.biz. FIR On Technology shows can be found at the main website at www.forimmediaterelease.biz.

Please join me in exploring where the technology behind communications is going!

    Dan.

FIR Presents LinkedConversations with Chuck Hester, Episode 4: December 28, 2013

FIR Presents LinkedConversations with Chuck HesterWelcome to the latest episode of LinkedConversations with Chuck Hester.

Welcome to the latest episode of LinkedConversations with Chuck Hester. In this episode I take a look at LinkedIn University Pages, a feature that offers information on academic institutions, similar to LinkedIn Company pages. Read about them in Linked In’s blog post from this Fall.

I also talk about the lowering of the LinkedIn age limit in the use to 14, and how that can help high schoolers with their college application process.

My special guest this week is Kelly Crowley, a public policy & program administration consultant; 4 time medal-winning Paralympic athlete and Varsity Coach at Stanford Community Recreation Association.

She is also Owner/President of Sportonic, an organization that consults with ParaSport clubs and sports organizations on cost-effective programs and policies to provide a full range of integrated sport opportunities for recreational to elite athletes with disabilities.
Kelly and I discuss how to use video in your profile. As a result of her videos, Kelly was singled out by LinkedIn as a great example of how to use this feature. We’ll also talk about using LinkedIn to get new business.

Finally, I explain why the week between Christmas and New Years is the optimum time to use LinkedIn.

Don’t forget if you want to subscribe to LinkedConversations via iTunes, just go here.

So thanks for listening and if you like what you hear, spread the word!
