  1. Dear Shel and Neville:

    Great show for FIR 52!

Here’s another grab bag of comments, I’m afraid. It’s your fault for producing such enjoyable and compelling content that it must be responded to!

    1) Shel: Wonderful music from the Lascivious Biddies! Thanks for getting permission to play “Famous.” I’ll check out their web site when I’m back at my home computer and might follow you in buying their CDs.

    2) Another kudo for Shel. I was walking to work when I heard you say that some company was obviously “Shifting their paradims and leveraging their core competencies.” I laughed so hard people across the street started looking at me. It’s sad, yet funny, when well intentioned ideas wind up on the scrap heap of lip-serviced management fads.

    3) In response to your piece on “blog attacks” on PR practitioners, I wanted to know if you were familar with the organization PR Watch, and their blog Spin of the Day which often bashes PR firms and/or their clients. If you have read Spin of the Day, what do you think of it? Do you find some or most of their criticisms on the mark or mistaken?

    4) Finally, I wanted to offer a purely personal opinion on why I think that videocasting WON’T be as big as podcasting. It’s a matter of mobility. Podcasting is very mobile in that you can go anywhere and do anything while listening. Once I download FIR onto my portable listening device I can walk, drive, do housework in several rooms, shop for groceries, even take it hiking if I really wanted to.

By contrast, a videocast seems to require that I sit down with my eyes glued to the video device, most likely a desktop computer, a laptop, or perhaps a pocket computer if I’m keen on watching a 4x4 screen. These options won’t work if I’m driving, walking, or shopping. It could work if I were a long-distance commuter, but I’m not. It might nice to watch a videocast on a plane, but security is so tedious these days I don’t bother with a laptop. When I need to give a presentation someone I either upload the materials to my web site or carry a CD with me.

That’s my $0.02, but then Y2K worried me somewhat so what do I know?

Thanks for putting out such thoughtprovoking media!
