Live panel discussion on the value of PR for startups set for November 7
In the wake of several high-profile posts suggesting startup CEOs can do their own PR just as effectively as a professional, we’ve put together a panel to discuss just what value startups get from working with agencies. The panel includes (in addition to hosts Shel Holtz and Neville Hobson):
- Rob Lane, CEO, Overlay TV (and several previous startups)
- Mike Manuel, PR practitioner, Voce Communications
- Sherilynne Starkie, PR practitioner, Strive Public Relations
- Katie Paine, KD Paine & Partners, PR measurement guru
There may be additional panelists added as the segment approaches.
The panel discussion will be hosted on FIR’s BlogTalk Radio channel on Friday, November 7 at 10 a.m. Pacific, 1 p.m. Eastern, and 6 p.m. in London. As with all BlogTalk Radio shows, you’ll have the oportunity to call in and add your own perspectives or ask questions of the panelists. Just call (347) 324-3723 during the show. You can also listen to the show by dialing in to that same number, or by visiting the site and clicking the “listen” button.
We hope you’ll join us! But even if you can’t make it, the show will be archived on BlogTalk Radio and issued as a regular Hobson & Holtz Report episode.

Live call-in show postponed to September 20
Due to Shel’s inability to keep his calendar up to date, a scheduling conflict is pushing back the live call-in show to Saturday, September 20. Sorry about that. Times are the same—10 a.m. Pacific, 1 p.m. Eastern, 6 p.m. London. Topic is the same, too: We’ll discuss the question raised on the blog eGov.au: “I’ve often wondered about the strength of the relationship between an organisation’s commitment to internal communications and its commitment to an effective intranet. I have worked in organisations with strong internal comms cultures, but with very poor intranets.” The post came to our attention courtesy of Michael Vanderdonk.
Details here.
