[Update Aug 1: We’ve just replaced the MP3 file for this edition. The original version contained a couple of out-takes by mistake that, while probably make for amusing listening, aren’t really what we’d like to leave as the legacy of show #159.]

  1. ha!  great show guys.  my favourite bit was about 14 mins from the end when we got a nice little look into the inner workings of the FIR machine!

more out takes and rants please!

  2. Yikes! I thought I’d edited that out! Thanks for pointing it out, Ed; I’ve removed the file and replaced it with a “clean” one! Maybe we’ll do an all-outakes show one of these days, though…

More rants? Definitely. Neville’s turn, though…

  3. No…that was the best part!  I should’ve kept my mouth shut…

  4. I would have figured it out sooner or later…

  5. I still have an “original” “uncleaned” version.
As I am sure that many others do. Just another good example of how mistakes once published online will linger on.
Also since itunes tends to cache podcasts, which version is it serving up?

  6. We’ve just replaced the file with the really clean version!

Hang on to the one you have, David. Might make some money on eBay one day :)

  7. Shel,

First off, great Mac rant on the previous episode. Second, I too downloaded a copy of this episode with the flub left in. It was nice to get a little behind the scenes listen on how you guys deal with that stuff. Finally, if you want to share your opml file just post a link to the Yahoo Podcast Directory group over at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/podcast-directory/. I’ll take it from there.

    Cheers,

    Rob Safuto

  8. Neville and Shel,

    no No NO!

It’s in the show notes - you have to put the original file back. Changing files stuffed the time codes! (and don’t you go edit the time codes)

I want you to imagine you are standing in a video store. In your right hand you have a DVD of a movie you like. In your left hand is a DVD of the same movie. The right hand one comes with a star commentary, the left one does not. The right one has out-takes and extra features, the left one does not. Both has a nice easy chapter list, except the left one doesn’t work properly. They cost the same so of course you will purchase right one with the other left on the shelf.

Put it back or the iPod get it!

    :-)
