  1. I enjoyed your discussion on finding a social media agency that knows what it is doing, and I agree it’s a discussion we may be having for some time.

On a related note, Chris Garrett recently wrote at the Social Media Examiner on
Outsourcing Social Media - Good or Bad Idea (http://bit.ly/5zX4Cx). It’s a worthwhile read in that he talks about what companies should and should not consider outsourcing to a social media agency.

Writes Chris, ... “Many companies are not just looking for help but offloading all their activity onto an outside agency who is not integrated into the company but still representing them in social media.

He talks about what items a company could safely outsource:

Where outsourcing works best is when a personal response is not necessary, when anyone can follow a simple system or where the task is taking your work and enhancing it. It is at its worst when the experience feels fabricated, deceptive or dismissive.

His bottom line is: avoid outsourcing your relationships.

This post also relates back to the discussion you had two shows ago on social media scams, and Sally’s example.

Enjoy the holidays. I’ve been an avid listener of FIR for several years now, and regularly recommend your podcast to friends and colleagues. Congrats on your upcoming 5 years!
