  1. I heard about the Virgin podcasts earlier this week and gave a listen since my New York Minute podcasts offer serve as guides to the city as well. IMHO, Virgin has produced a group of very generic and sterilized audio guides for some of the most basic information about the city. And while their information is servicable, it certainly doesn’t go into the depth that one might need on a trip to the city. My experience is that people want (and need) real advice from a local person in order to truly enjoy their travel experience in New York or any other major travel destination. So while Virgin can announce that that they have produced professional sounding podcast guides to the city, they’ve failed to truly speak to the audience on a level that provides real value.

  2. Well, the Ragan Report has their opinion.

Since they are often contrary to new ideas, is anyone all that surprised?  What would have been funny would be for them to have written something snarky like, “podcasting is going to the dogs.”

At least then, they’d have been right.

    Purina Podcasts

Purina’s Animal Advice radio programs are now available as podcasts. Listen in as veterinarians and pet lovers like you discuss topics such as animal training, pet surgery, behavioral theories and pet insurance. New shows will be published every other week.

I’m just grateful that they didn’t call them ‘pawdcasts’.
