  1. #174 serves as Fair Warning to all who want this podcast to be shorter: Be careful what you wish for…lol
Thank you for all the work you went through in order to get ANY podcast out today, given your amazing schedules. It was (as always) informative, fun, & made me go Be-Friend Panic! at the Disco on their MySpace page (they have over 1.1 million friends!! whoaaa…).
On a tangental note, you’ve talked about mashups, & of course done some mashup episodes of FIR. Here is a (wishful thinking) Coming Attractions trailer for a great Teen Comedy starring Charlton Heston and Yul Brynner:
    10 Things I Hate…
    Love & Peace, Clarence
    CJ’s Radio Olio

  2. It’s true, FIR #174 was so short I almost went into withdrawal. But it did remind me about something I forgot to comment on when leaving my belated note on FIR #173: pitch blogs. The idea is intriguing, and it would certainly spare the inboxes of reporters, but it seems to me that it would be hard to personalize or target the pitches.

If you want to pitch something successfully to a blogger or a publication, you need to demonstrate familiarity with the journalist, the publication, and the readership. Wired, Cosmopolitan, and the Wall Street Journal wouldn’t be too likely to be interested in the same aspect of or angle on your product, service, or company.

So creating a pitch blog might just be a way to reproduce the old-fashioned fax blast in a new medium, and hence a distraction from creating new and better press releases.

  3. The FIR hockey league is set for sign-up. Go to fantasysports.yahoo.com. All you need is the league ID which is 65621 and the password which is “sheville”. Have fun.

  4. I’m getting sick of hearing from this woman from the “Obsessed with Race” podcast. I understand her point, but she’s quickly turning into a third team member for FIR.

Maybe I need to start sending in some comments so you have more to choose from!

  5. There’s a great scene (actually the only great scene) in Star Wars Episode I, in which Jar Jar Binks gets hit by somebody and exclaims “how rude”. That says it all.
(btw, no need to read this on the air, I fear to be the next object of Mike’s anger)
