Our guest on this episode was Jon Ferrara (@Jon_Ferrara).

Ferrara was the creator and co-founder of the award winning customer management product GoldMine. In 1999, Goldmine got acquired by FrontRange and Ferrara left to pursue other interests. During those years, Ferrara continued to watch the CRM market. He saw that most of the CRM products that were serving small businesses moved up market (and became more costly and complex) or fell by the way side, leaving the market underserved. It was at this point that he decided to create the next generation CRM product for small businesses, Nimble.

Thought Leadership with Mitchell Levy and Michael Procopio, Episode 43: October 8, 2014

Thought Leadership with Mitchell and MichaelIn this episode of Thought Leadership with Mitchell and Michael (#TLL) we interview

In this episode, Mitchell and Michael hang out with #ThoughtLeader Martin Jones (@martinjonesaz) of Cox Communications (http://www.cox.com). Martin gives valuable insider advice on how to engage with over a million fans on different social media platforms and make content that is relevant to entire communities. He notes that Cox Communications’ #ThoughtLeadership stems from the fact that it is in a good vantage point and has a unique opportunity to see what’s happening in the digital marketing world which it then shares with the business community through curated content. Martin relates how content continues to evolve and why businesses should strive to create a culture of content in which every level of the organization becomes involved in content creation and distribution. He notes that evolution of content for any organization is a process and does not happen overnight.

Martin JonesAs the editor of Cox Communication’s business blog, CoxBLUE.com, Martin shares how content creation and management for the company has evolved into something that serves not only the company but the whole business community and emphasizes that CoxBLUE was created to guide small businesses to grow and revive their business. In the conversation, we learn strategies on how to develop content that will allow companies to hurdle the challenge of coming up with good content from week to week. What Martin’s team does is to agree on a pillar or a centerpiece theme big enough to cover three months of content and broken down into small pieces of content to be featured weekly. The conversation also touched on other interesting topics like new trends on social media and which platforms to look out for.
