  1. Thanks for the mention, Shel and Neville.

Actually, the provenance of my “unofficial” IABC Conference podcasts is rather interesting. When I decided to plunk down my money and register for the IABC conference back in January, I approached the IABC about doing a series of pre-conference podcasts. It wasn’t until after I started working on this project that I heard your announcement regarding your upcoming official podcasts.

As you say, our work can be complementary. I look forward to your IABC International Conference podcasts and will certainly mention them in mine!

You also raise a very intriguing point about how people could indeed co-opt a conference by doing anti-conference shows, etc. Of course that’s not the case here! ;-))

    Regards,
    Donna

  2. Guys, enjoying the shows, as always.

I wanted to comment on Dave Werner’s portfolio website - okaydave.com

With the exception of that introductory music—though it’s brief, and doesn’t bug me too much—and the Flash *8* requirement, this site is very well done.  It is a shining example of when and how Flash *should* be used.  After all, the site is essentially meant to show off Dave’s design and multimedia skills—and it does just that.

My sister is a wedding photographer, and her site is entirely Flash-driven.  Though, I initially advised her against forcing Flash and background music on the user, the site seems to work well for the audience she’s trying to reach—brides hunting for a wedding photographer.

In general, though, when users visit a site, they want information.  If they want to read the latest company news and find a contact telephone number, what they don’t want is to have to first sit through an extraneous Flash show.

Keep up the great work, and congratulations on your book deal.
