Lilach Bullock on AMP UP Your Social Media

AMP UP Your Social MediaLilach Bullock is the founder of Socialable, a digital marketing agency that helps businesses leverage social media to generate more revenue. Lilach recently joined AMP Up Your Social Media’s host Glenn Gaudet to discuss how to get the most out of your social media marketing.

“Try to be different. Don’t be afraid to be controversial. Some of the most controversial posts have received the most shares. It pays to be different.

Lilach offers these tips to maximize your social media marketing efforts:

  1. Don’t just bold post. Build and nurture relationships with your followers to create an engaged, organic fan base.
  2. Research to see where your customers are. Don’t just follow the bandwagon and join Facebook and Twitter, see what “smaller” platforms might work even better for you (ex: StumbleUpon, Reddit, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.)
  3. Make sure you have enough resources to respond to all of the comments you receive. Responding is crucial to building your social media relationships.

AMP Up Your Social MediaGina Joseph is the Digital Engagement Manager for Cision, a PR Software Marketing Solutions company. Gina focuses on content creation, email marketing and engaging with clients.  Gina recently joined AMP Up Your Social Media’s host Glenn Gaudet to discuss the importance of content in social media marketing.

“If you are trying to kickstart your social media, do a lot of reading! I love RSS feeds! Look to see what is new and happening so you can share that content.”

Gina offers a few “tricks” for content creation:

  1. Meet regularly with your marketing and sales teams to have brainstorm sessions to decide on relevant content. Review questions and trends from your customers to create valuable content pieces.
  2. Create evergreen content (Q&As, Tip Sheets, etc.) that you can repurpose and repost.
  3. After you have your content, decide what the best avenues for sharing them are. Facebook? Twitter? Pinterest? Email? Who are you trying to reach and what would be most impactful?
  4. Rather than just reposting content from last season, refresh it with up-to-date trends or new tips and tricks.

Craig Jamieson on AMP Up Your Social Media

AMP Up Your Social MediaCraig Jamieson is a Managing Member/Owner of Adaptive Business Services. Craig shows businesses how to leverage social sales tools, techniques, strategies, and Social CRM to increase their revenues.

Craig recently joined AMP Up Your Social Media’s host Glenn Gaudet to discuss the importance of social media in B2B sales.

[Through social networking], my connections convert to opportunities, and most importantly, these opportunities find me, rather than me having to go out and cold prospect.

Craig offers these tips to get your sales team started on social media:

  1. Understand the concept of the social media ecosystem and how it all works together.
  2. Understand the psyche of the sales person; typically their mindset is not marketing. You need to make social media fast, clean and easy.
  3. Teach your sales team how to not only networking using social media, but also create status updates and share content…this is how they will start to see results.
  4. Provide your sales team with content (good posts that are connected to landing pages, blog articles, etc.) that brings attention to them and the company or the product/service.

Craig would love to hear from you! Chat with him on Twitter @CraigMJamieson or email him at craig@salesresultsllc.com.

About Our Guest

His workshops and seminars are consistently rated 9+ out of 10 by those who attend and he also served as adjunct faculty at Boise State University where he taught “Salesmanship”.

For the past five years, Craig has owned and operated NetWorks! Boise Valley, which is the most sophisticated and serious leads group organization in the Treasure Valley and is currently two groups strong. He is a strong believer in all things “networking” and blogs extensively on this topic including the recent addition of social media applications as they relate to business uses only.

Throughout his business career, Craig has consistently deployed CRM solutions in his business ventures and is uniquely qualified to evaluate these tools from the standpoint of both management and the individual salesperson. He is very familiar with Salesforce, Zoho, ACT! and a number of other applications. Craig understands selling, social media, and CRM.

Please note that this episode was recorded outside the normal studio quality that we have used in the past. We apologize for this, but the conversation was so insightful in terms of getting into the mind of how salespeople look at social media, we wanted to share it. Thank you for bearing with the variable sound quality.

Todd Van Hoosear on AMP Up Your Social Media

AMP Up Your Social MediaTodd Van Hoosear is the VP, Public Relations & Stakeholder Engagement at the HB Agency (Hart-Boillot). Todd serves as a Vice President in HB’s PR group, focusing on enabling better stakeholder engagement for HB’s clients. Todd also teaches the New Media and Public Relations class at Boston University, which explores the effects of new media on the fundamental theories, models, and practices of public relations.

Todd recently joined AMP Up Your Social Media’s host Glenn Gaudet to discuss how PR has changed in the past two decades and how important it is to find key influencers.

“You really have to spend a lot more time analyzing who your influencers really are and if they even come out of the journalism world. It might be a twitter handle of someone that works at a targeted organization or a kid in the basement with 100,000 followers.”

To find your key influencers, Todd suggests asking yourself these questions:

  1. What are your business objectives and goals?
  2. Specifically, what are you marketing/PR goals?
  3. Where are your customers and what are their interests?
  4. What will it take to rise above the noise and standout amongst your competitors?
  5. Based on the goals and objectives of your campaign and who your audience is, who are your top influencers?

Todd would love to hear from you! Chat with him on Twitter @vanhoosear or email him at vanhoosear@hbagency.com.

Randy Ksar on AMP Up Your Social Media

AMP Up Your Social MediaRandy Ksar is a Sr. Social Marketer and Real-Time Marketing Consultant for both startups and larger-size businesses focusing on social strategy, content marketing and real-time community engagement.
Randy has more than 20 year of experience with online marketing. He recently joined AMP Up Your Social Media’s host Glenn Gaudet to discuss how to create a social media buzz using content and key influencers from within your organization.

“Find your key influencers, your storytellers, and use them as a brand for your company.” – Randy Ksar

For corporate social media managers, Randy offers these helpful tips you can start implementing today!

  1. Find the influencers within your company. Who are the storytellers? The good communicators who can influence the audience you are trying to reach? It’s not always the CEO. It could be someone who is an influencer to the CEO.
  2. Create internal content. You don’t need to spend a lot to create valuable content. Video record your internal evangelist talking about a new product launch, an event you have coming up, a conference you attended, etc. and broadcast that across your social media platforms.
  3. Encourage internal involvement by sharing your content with employees and stakeholders and ask them to share it too. Don’t be surprised if you start getting asked to create more videos once they learn you have a camera—everyone wants a moment in the spotlight!
  4. Build trust within your organization. Try new things. When you find something that works, show present it. Provide analytics to support your success and the trust will grow.

Randy loves chatting about social media so don’t hesitate to contact him on LinkedIn at http://www.linkedin.com/in/rksar, twitter @djksar or email him at rksar@landonc.com.

Dan Carter on AMP Up Your Social Media

AMP Up Your Social MediaDan Carter is the Managing Director of North America for Racepoint Global, an advanced marketing services agency, which guides people and brands, helping them navigate the rapidly changing waters and connect with people through meaningful content and experiences.

Dan has more than 20 years of experience in marketing & PR. He recently joined AMP Up Your Social Media’s host Glenn Gaudet to discuss the social media at an agency level and to provide insider tips for in-house marketing departments to maximize their social media marketing efforts.

The thing with social media is you have to commit to it. It takes time. Social media should not be a thing you do off on the side; it needs to be fully integrated into your marketing function. Everything you do; from lead gen, to public relations, to traditional marketing, to advertising, to social, needs to be all linked together. You need to be saying the same thing across all channels (in different formats, of course), but the theme needs to be the same.

For corporate social media managers, Dan offers these helpful tips you can start implementing today!

  • What’s your theme? When creating a social campaign, it is important to identify your theme and the focus of your content.
  • Get organized. Really plan your content, the channels you plan to share it on and when you plan to share it. Develop a calendar. Once you identify your theme, decide how long you are going to run this campaign and then break it down into buckets. Carter uses the rule of 8: What content are you going to push at 8 weeks out? 8 Days out? 8 hours out? 8 minutes out? You start to bucket your content into buckets of 8.
  • Stick to it! Once you have your plan, make sure you stick to it. Your message will come across branded and consistent and it will be easier to leverage.

Stephanie Newby on AMP Up Your Social Media

FIR Presents Amp Up Your Social MediaStephanie Newby is the CEO of Crimson Hexagon. Crimson Hexagon is a high-tech company based in Boston’s Innovation District, with global reach. Newby joined our host Glenn Gaudet on AMP Up your Social Media to discuss her investment in the data mining aspects of social.

Newby is deeply invested in social analysis. Crimson Hexagon collects, indexes and stores 500 million posts of social media every day. Since starting their data collection in 2008, they have stored more than 250 billion posts. This is a wealth of information for a marketer; they can extract the stuff that’s relevant and it has sufficient content and depth of meaning that makes it actionable.

Newby discusses the opportunities around mining social media data:

We sometimes call it the world’s largest focus group because what you have in that data is consumer opinions, on a very, very wide range of topics. We target marketers; because the marketers want to know what the consumer is saying about the brand, or their product, or their ad campaign, or the celebrity endorser.

About Stephanie Newby

Stephanie NewbyStephanie Newby is the CEO of Crimson Hexagon. Founded in 2007 and based in Boston, Massachusetts, Crimson Hexagon is the only patented social media analysis and Big Data analytics platform available today. They provide industry-leading social media monitoring and analysis software and services to global brands, agencies, media firms and their partners. Stephanie’s 20 year career prior to becoming an investor was in financial services. She has worked in all three times zones - in Sydney, London and New York. The majority of her career was with J.P. Morgan where she headed several global businesses (including positions as Global Head of Futures & Options, Head of International Private Banking, COO of Global Equities and Head of eCommerce) where she grew and managed revenue and expense budgets up to $500m.

If you are currently the manager of a corporate social media account, here’s Newby’s advice:

  1. Getting any kind of analytics is better than none. Understand how your consumers think and feel about your brand and then use that information to proceed accordingly.
  2. Experiment. Experiment. Experiment. Sometimes you have to be a little bit out there, a little bit edgy to get content to go viral, but always stay consistent with your brand!
  3. Understand your audience. Experiment with your messaging until you find a formula that works for your brand and engages your audience.
