FIR presents Linked Conversations with Chuck Hester,  Episode 12: April 1, 2014

Linked ConversationsWelcome to the latest episode of Linked Conversations with Chuck Hester.

This episode is a little different, as I’m devoting the entire show to the news that LinkedIn is drastically changing Company Pages by removing the Products and Services tab on April 14, 2014. I’ll explain what they are doing instead, discuss the ramifications for LinkedIn Company Page administrators (and small companies who do it themselves) and take LinkedIn to task on how they made the change known to LinkedIn users.

More information about the change can be found at this link in the LinkedIn Help section.

Showcase Page information can be found in this LinkedIn blog post from November, 2013.

Linked Conversations #10: PUR Gum CEO Jay Klein—3/2/14

Linked ConversationsWelcome to the latest episode of Linked Conversations with Chuck Hester.

In this episode, I cover the newest LinkedIn feature, Member Blocking. It adds an additional layer to your privacy controls by allowing you to block your profile, direct interactions, and network activity from logged in members who you don’t wish to interact or share personal information with. Many of my listeners will say: “Long time coming!”

My guest this week is Jay Klein, CEO of PUR Gum.  While it might seem unusual to have a CEO of a gum company on LinkedConversations, this is actually the first of several interviews surrounding the Natural Products Expo that starts at the end of this week in Anaheim, CA.  I am always interested in talking PUR Gum CEO Jay Kleinto executives about how they use social media to promote their businesses.

This interview definitely fits the bill. Jay shares not only the PUR Gum story, but how the company uses social media to promote their busienss and interact with customers – and potential customers.

You can find out more about PUR Gum on their Facebook page and their LinkedIn company page. Learn more about Jay on his LinkedIn profile.

Peter VikstromMy guest this week is Peter Vikstrom, a professional executive reputation adviser in Copenhagen, Denmark. We talk about his business philosophy that “your reputation arrives before you.”

I met Peter through a listener and friend, Lars Raee, who suggested I might want to interview someone from Scandinavia (Lars is in Denmark) to talk about the differences in social media and LinkedIn use in that area of the world. Believe me the conversation was an enlightening one!

FIR presents Linked Conversations with Chuck Hester, Episode 8: January 28, 2014

Linked ConversationsWelcome to the latest episode of Linked Conversations with Chuck Hester.

This episode does not include LinkedIn news, per se, as I wanted to devote the entire time to my conversation with Peter Shankman, author, marketing pundit, frequent network news contributor, and founder of Help A Reporter Out (which he sold to Vocus in 2010).

Peter is currently the co-founder of Shankman | Honig, a global consultancy that empowers companies to better utilize their customer service to increase revenues and decrease marketing costs.

On the day of our interview, he had just come back from an on-air interview with ABC News about the Justin Beiber arrest, and prior to that he was on CNN that morning talking about the Super Bowl. He is definitely in demand, so I was honored he took time to be on the show!

Peter ShankmanWith Peter, we talk about his pay it forward "Home for the Holidays" campaign, his take on LinkedIn as a marketing tool and his new mastermind groups he’s running around the U.S. Great interview, and definitely not without a few "did he really just say that?!!" moments!

More information on Peter can be found at www.shankman.com and his next Mastermind group is in Salt Lake City. More info is here: http://shankman.com/hey-salt-lake-join-me-for-my-next-business-mastermind-on-2-5.

Linked Conversations #6 - 1/13/14: A conversation with Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen

FIR Presents LinkedConversations with Chuck HesterWelcome to the latest episode of LinkedConversations with Chuck Hester.

This is a very special episode devoted exclusively to my interview with Phil Collen, lead guitarist for Def Leppard. This is not your typical episode, and there will be no LinkedIn tips or news. Tune in next week for that information!

I had the chance to talk to Phil for more than 45 minutes about his career with Def Leppard, his other band Manraze, and his new blues duet, Delta Deep. It is, in my opinion an amazing interview that gives insight into being a rock star, how social media has changed record promotion and what happens when a man follows his passion and does what he truly loves.

Def Leppard lead guitarist Phil CollenSome background: Phil joined Def Leppard in 1982 during the Pyromania album recording sessions playing guitar solos on the hits ‘Photograph’, ‘Foolin’’, and ‘Rock Of Ages’ among others. With the release of Hysteria Def Leppard had their best selling album to date releasing seven singles from the album including the smash hits ‘Pour Some Sugar On Me’ and ‘Love Bites’.  Visit Def Leppard’s Facebook page.

Phil’s alternative band, Manraze, is a collaboration between Phil, bassist Simon Laffy formerly of the late 70’s band Girl and legendary Sex Pistols’ drummer Paul Cook. More information on Manraze is on the band’s Facebook page.

Phil’s latest project is Delta Blue, a powerhouse extreme blues duet/team consisting of Phil and an amazing vocalist, Debbi Blackwell-Cook.
Delta Deep can be reached on its Facebook page.

Phil Collen is a practicing vegan, has been a vegetarian for 31 years, and alcohol-free for 26 years busting the myth of the classic ‘rockstar’ stereotype wide open.

Enjoy this insider look at rock star Phil Collen, this week on LinkedConversations!

So thanks for listening and if you like what you hear, spread the word!
